Luis Barreda
FOUNDING PRINCIPAL
Luis trained at the UNISON institute and spent a decade with practices at Mexico City before basing his practice in Scottsdale, Arizona and later founding 1618 Studio.
His years in Mexico City left a lasting mark on Luis’s perspective. The city’s rhythm, architectural depth, and relationship between indoor and outdoor life helped shape his belief that a home should feel calm, intentional, and deeply personal.
1618 takes its name from the golden ratio, 1.618 — a proportion found throughout nature, classical architecture, and the human form. To Luis, it is a reminder that good architecture begins with proportion to create homes that feel balanced, intentional, and lasting.

How we work...
Every project begins with a clear understanding of the client's goals, the site, and the type of home being created. Before design moves forward, we study the property, the program, the lifestyle needs, and the opportunities that will shape the residence.
Our process is collaborative and organized. We guide each project through concept design, floor plan development, exterior design, construction documents, and coordination with builders and consultants. Each phase is developed with attention to proportion, function, material direction, and long-term livability.
The goal is to create homes that are not only visually refined, but also practical, buildable, and carefully considered. From the first sketch to the final set of drawings, our work is focused on clarity, detail, and a finished home that reflects the client's vision.
